History and Service Notes
The Tactical Armoured Patrol Vehicle is a wheeled combat vehicle designed to conduct reconnaissance and surveillance, security, command and control, and armoured transport of personnel and equipment.
The vehicle was acquired with the plan to replace reconnaissance vehicles in the LAV II family. It is fielded in General Utility and Reconnaissance variants.
The TAPV uses composite armour, a V-shaped hull, and high ground clearance to protect occupants against mines and improvised explosive device blasts. Seats are blast protected, and vented wheel wells help disperse blast energy away from the vehicle.
